You know the mantra, ‘You only have one life, so live it to the fullest’? After 11 years of living and working in a way that felt disconnected from our true selves, this message hit home. We realized that our lives needed to change, and just six months later, we left behind our business and belongings to start anew in the Azores, a place that called to our hearts.

Born and raised in São Miguel, farming has run through João's veins since childhood.
Gena was born in California to Azorean parents and dreamt about one day doing impactful work in the place that made her happiest – the Azores.
The Farm was born out of this passion and we’ve been able to bring together Joao’s farming experience and Gena’s background in health, development, and environmental sustainability to build a holistically managed farm that takes into consideration the welfare of the animals, the environment, and the local and global community.
Now we feel aligned with our “life purpose” and this fuels us to get up each morning and do the hard work that comes with providing nourishing food for people’s tables.
