Itinerary: A Day on the Farm

Itinerary:
A Day on the Farm

3:00 pm (wINTER) | 3:30 pm (summer)

We will personally meet you at the designated meeting spot.

From there, you will follow our tractor to the farm, ensuring we all arrive together at the correct starting point since our farm consists of 22 separate pastures.

After arriving, we’ll provide you with mud boots and head to the pasture where our adult cows are grazing. The ride is part of the fun! Here, you’ll get to experience our sustainable farming methods, pet the cows, and observe their unique behaviors.

You’ll also learn how to herd the cows from pasture to the milking barn—just like the “cow jams” you might spot on village roads across the island. Next, you’ll meet the calves and try your hand at milking a cow! You'll milk by hand and learn about the process behind the fresh raw milk that you'll soon enjoy.

We’ll finish the tour with a beautiful picnic on a scenic hill overlooking the ocean (or inside our 90-year-old stone barn if the weather isn't favorable). Savor our homemade artisanal cheeses, jams, wood-fired oven bread, and the raw milk you just helped to milk.

5:30 pm (wiNTER) | 6:30 pm (summer)

The tour concludes, but feel free to stay a little longer to soak in the views, ask questions, and get to know us better.

The cows are wonderful, the owners are kind, knowledgeable, care about the environment and are so friendly. They went out of their way to keep everyone comfortable, well fed and hydrated. I cannot wait to return to the Azores to enjoy this experience again!

Conditions, learning about local produce, sampling gorgeous cheese and jam and we got to experience incredible teaching by Joao on how to milk a cow. Hands down best activity for kids and adults. If I could give 6 stars I would. Can't wait to see the farm store and farm stay as it progresses. Thank you for this experience ♥️

It’s hard to find the words to explain all the knowledge and the passion Gina and Joao are sharing. It’s more than a tour, they are taking you with them to their fields, with their cows and you spend a moment out of the time, suspended.

What a wonderful experience for our family of four! We geared up, learned the ins and outs of regenerative farming, helped walk the cows back to the barn, milked a cow, had a beautiful picnic in their stone barn and really felt like we had a beautiful sneak peek into their farm life. My son wouldn’t get off their tractor and my daughter drank about 4 cups of milk.

My 8 year old daughter and I visited Gina and Joao’s farm this week and it was hands down one of the most memorable experiences of our trip to Azores! These experiences are truly what travelling should be about. We learnt so much and had the best time. I have such an increased appreciation for all the work that goes into dairy farming. Gina’s homemade cream cheese was the best I’ve ever tasted.
